This summer, The Quad Manhattan's team of psychosocial interns and staff will be led by Dr. Tara Hannon, PsyD. Dr. Hannon brings 14 years of experience in psychological services for youth to the summer program at Quad.
During the school year, Dr. Hannon is a clinical psychologist on the Upper West Side in Manhattan seeing children and teens for weekly therapy and doing parent consultation work; Dr. Hannon also conducts neuropsychological evaluations for the Department of Education (DOE) in Harlem and Brooklyn. She is a graduate of the Combined School-Clinical Child Psychology Program at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, class of 2010.
Dr. Hannon had the privilege of being supervised and taught by many excellent professors who offered psychodynamic training. As such, she tends to conceptualize and work in a psychodynamic manner while integrating in CBT and DBT skills into the sessions when called for in order to help children and teens cope with stress, anxiety, attentional issues, and depression in their day-to-day life.
Dr. Hannon is described by her peers as always ready to help and a wealth of knowledge in the field and NYC network. Hailing from Westchester originally, Dr. Hannon has lived in Westchester and NYC for her entire life with the exception of her four years living in Washington, D.C. for college.
In her tenure as a clinical supervisor, Dr. Hannon says she loves giving people space to talk about their cases, hearing insights and mirroring the work she does with families offering the mantra, "how can I be of service?"
"I've had the opportunity to do a lot of supervision over the years in both group and individual settings," Dr. Hannon says. She adds that she's excited to offer the same open door policy to this year's interns.

Dr. Hannon received DBT training during her first year working full-time as a licensed clinical psychologist at Four Winds Hospital on the Sunset Unit. She has received training in many CBT modalities over the years in various settings and utilized Coping Cat and C.A.T. as a means of engaging children and teens during telehealth of the pandemic. She is also trained in the SPACE Program.
During her approximate 6 years working at JCCA in Bronx and Brooklyn and 2 years working at Cardinal McCloskey in the Bronx, Dr. Hannon gained extensive training and experience working with children and teens in the foster care system who had experienced trauma & abuse. There, she got to witness the tremendous resilience of the human spirit in the face of extremely difficult and challenging circumstances on a daily basis. She has experience and training in Bowen Family Systems Theory as well.
Dr. Hannon says she is excited for this summer and to meet all the students and parents, reflecting on her work in private practice and consulting. She says that in the work she does with families, she always asks parents to think about the things they enjoyed as kids to incorporate that into building relationships with their child and providing opportunities for skill development, a pillar of social-emotional learning at Quad.
In her spare time, Dr. Hannon likes to travel to and hang out with her three nephews (two of whom live in California) and niece, go for walks in NYC, puppy sit, go to comedy shows, bake, hang out at the beach with her family and friends, and take photographs (she is her family’s designated photographer).
